🚨Meet our SUA Medical Transportation Services FTO🚨: Jason Levi!...

🚨Meet our SUA Medical Transportation Services FTO🚨: Jason Levi!

Jason is a Senior at SU, majoring in Psychology. He holds the titles of Crew Chief, Crew Chief Trainer Progression, Driver and Driver Trainer, and Dispatcher and Trainer in SUA. As the MTS FTO, Jason trains new members that sign up to work for MTS. He talks to them about their responsibilities and teaches them how MTS works: “If anything comes up during their shifts, drivers can come to me and I’ll help them with anything. I also make sure the vans are kept clean, fueled, and running efficiently.”
But Jason’s service in MTS stems from his passion in SUA: “I joined SUA because I wanted to give back to the SU community. EMS has always interested me and I thought why not combine the two. Since joining, I’ve found my second family and best friends. It is a unique feeling to be sitting in quarters hanging out with your friends one minute and the next be scrambling to put on a uniform as quickly as you can to go save a life. I love the unpredictability that comes with seeing a medical emergency and the next hour siting in chemistry lecture.” Jason’s biggest piece of advice is “Join SUA, it will change you life”.

Thanks for always being a passionate SUA member, Jason!

🚨Meet one of our SUA Personnel Supervisors🚨: Courtney Kubiak!

Courtney is a Syracuse University Senior majoring in Public Health and minoring in Biology. She also serves as a Field Training Officer in SUA. Her responsibilities as Personnel Supervisor are recruiting, choosing, and then training new members. Selecting the future members of the organization is a great role for Courtney, as she inspires the same passion in new members that she had coming into SUA: “As a Freshman I joined SUA wanting to become involved with the SU community. My favorite part of SUA has been watching new members I have brought in as Personnel progress through positions and fully take advantage of the unique experience SUA has to offer. I know after I graduate when I look back on my time at SU, my favorite memories will always be those of SUA.”

Thanks for passing on the SUA drive, Courtney!

🚨Meet our SUA Facilities Administrator🚨: Drew Hurley!

Drew is sophomore majoring in Sports Management at SU and a cleared Crew Chief, Driver, and Dispatcher for SUA. Drew says, “My job as Facilities is to make sure that SUA has all the equipment and supplies for any type of call that might come in. If we don’t have everything we need, our crews can’t efficiently run calls. I also make sure everything in quarters is clean and functional.” Drew, who used to have a fear of hospitals growing up, was brought into college EMS for a reason many of us can relate to: “Honestly, the reason I applied to SUA was because I walked by the table at the involvement fair and someone asked me if I wanted to drive an ambulance, which sounded really cool. But since joining I could not think of a better, more unique way of spending time at SU. I joined in the fall of my freshman year, and I don’t know what my college experience would be without SUA and the people around every day.”

Thanks for keeping us grounded at a clean and supplied home base, Drew!

This week on the SU campus has been Remembrance Week, a week where the 35 Remembrance Scholars and 2 Lockerbie Scholars honor the lives and spirits of the 35 SU students and over 240 others tragically killed on the Pan Am 103 flight that exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21st, 1988.
SUA is incredibly proud to have members chosen over the years as Remembrance Scholars. Our members, along with the other scholars, fulfill the promise to never forget the students of the SU community we lost that day, as they “Look back, and act forward”. 🚨Meet our SUA Training Supervisor🚨: Emily Lehmann!

Emily is a Junior at SU, majoring in Biology and pursuing a dual minor in Psychology and Public Health. Emily has the works in SUA as a cleared Driver, Crew Chief, and Dispatcher, in addition to holding the Field Training Officer and Dispatch Trainer titles. As Training Supervisor, Emily is in charge of making sure that all of our members are up to date on the set EMS and NY protocols, as well as planning fun trainings, such as our upcoming MCI. Trainings like these keep our members on their toes, and ready for anything. Emily joined SUA because “growing up with parents as firemen and police officers, helping others was in my blood. When I first joined, everyone always said that these people will become some of your best friends, I initially didn’t believe it. But now, could not be any more wrong. SUA is my home away from home, a place where I am able to do something I love, with people I love as well.”

Thank you, terrific Trainer Em!

As SUA Secretary, Kristen relays out all important information, like any recent changes or updates, to the rest of the organization and health services employees from both administrative and executive branches. This way SUA can be performing at our best as an organization! SUA means the world to Kristen! She says, “I joined this organization because it is probably the most unique organization on this campus and it may be the only time in my life that I can do this. If I have any time between classes, I try to swing by quarters to catch up with everyone and of course see Paul #savage. Getting so close to all of the SUA members is unlike any other organization that I have ever been a part of because we are all so passionate about what we do and encourage each other to be the best that we can be. Having SUA in my life pushes me to be the best person possible. We help each other with all of our own strengths/weaknesses and create a balance. I simply cannot image my college career without SUA in it. Its always #SUAszn”

Thank you, super Secretary!

In with the old AND in with the new!

With the debut of our new Administrative position, Alumni Relations, we will be recognizing a different SUA alumni each week. Our unit is embarking on its 44th year of service, and none of it could have been possible without the dedicated, compassionate, loyal, and Orange members before us.

Our first alumni is Peter Vasiliou, who attended SU from 1991-1995.
He is currently working as a Traffic Engineer at Jacobs Engineering Group in Boston.
Peter was an incredible help with the 20th Anniversary of SUA when he was a member.

Are you an SUA Alumn? Tell us what you’re up to! Email SUA Alumni Relations Admin, Emilia Navarrete:
