Maddie is a Political Philosophy major with a dual minor in Biology and Child Family Studies at SU, and a Crew Chief Progression, Dispatch Progression, and Driver for SUA. As PRO, she is in charge of the organization’s social image through Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. She makes sure followers, the SU community, SUA alumni, and SUA members are informed and up to date on the latest and greatest in the organization. Maddie has been a part of SUA since she first arrived at SUA in the Fall 2015 probationary class: “I, to this day, don’t know how I got so lucky being accepted into this organization, but I make sure to show the campus and SUA how thankful I am to serve in this EMS agency every chance I can. To work on an ambulance with your closest friends is a remarkable opportunity. I have the greatest pride and gratitude for these awesome members, so I am happy to show them off on social media!”

🚨Meet our SUA Special Events Supervisor🚨: Megan Panebianco!

Megan is a SU Senior, majoring Psychology. Aside from being a cleared Crew Chief, Driver, and Dispatcher, she also serves as a Field Training Officer and Dispatch trainer for SUA. The role of Special Events Supervisor is to fulfill standby requests around campus and work hand in hand with the Carrier Dome medical team. In addition, she is in charge of promoting and planning National Collegiate EMS Week in November, which is a week long celebration of EMS on college campuses: “We spend the week teaching CPR, organizing a blood drive, and visiting little kiddos at the day care on South Campus”. Megan says, “I joined SUA as a freshman in 2014 when I was trying to find my place on this campus. SUA has not only given me unique, amazing experiences, but it has also given me the best of friends. I know when I graduate (ugh) I will always have a family here!”

Thank you for all your planning, prepping, and rocking🤘🏼, Megan!

This week on the SU campus has been Remembrance Week, a week where the 35 Remembrance Scholars and 2 Lockerbie Scholars honor the lives and spirits of the 35 SU students and over 240 others tragically killed on the Pan Am 103 flight that exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21st, 1988.
SUA is incredibly proud to have members chosen over the years as Remembrance Scholars. Our members, along with the other scholars, fulfill the promise to never forget the students of the SU community we lost that day, as they “Look back, and act forward”. 🚨Meet our SUA Training Supervisor🚨: Emily Lehmann!

Emily is a Junior at SU, majoring in Biology and pursuing a dual minor in Psychology and Public Health. Emily has the works in SUA as a cleared Driver, Crew Chief, and Dispatcher, in addition to holding the Field Training Officer and Dispatch Trainer titles. As Training Supervisor, Emily is in charge of making sure that all of our members are up to date on the set EMS and NY protocols, as well as planning fun trainings, such as our upcoming MCI. Trainings like these keep our members on their toes, and ready for anything. Emily joined SUA because “growing up with parents as firemen and police officers, helping others was in my blood. When I first joined, everyone always said that these people will become some of your best friends, I initially didn’t believe it. But now, could not be any more wrong. SUA is my home away from home, a place where I am able to do something I love, with people I love as well.”

Thank you, terrific Trainer Em!

Kristen is a Junior Nutrition Science Major at SU, who stands as a Crew Chief Progression, Driver, and Dispatcher Progression in SUA. As SUA Secretary, Kristen relays out all important information, like any recent changes or updates, to the rest of the organization and health services employees from both administrative and executive branches. This way SUA can be performing at our best as an organization! SUA means the world to Kristen! She says, “I joined this organization because it is probably the most unique organization on this campus and it may be the only time in my life that I can do this. If I have any time between classes, I try to swing by quarters to catch up with everyone and of course see Paul #savage. Getting so close to all of the SUA members is unlike any other organization that I have ever been a part of because we are all so passionate about what we do and encourage each other to be the best that we can be. Having SUA in my life pushes me to be the best person possible. We help each other with all of our own strengths/weaknesses and create a balance. I simply cannot image my college career without SUA in it. Its always #SUAszn”

Thank you, super Secretary!

Soph says, “When I joined SUA I had the goal of helping others in the SU community. SUA teaches me so many amazing lessons that I would not have learned anywhere else on campus and it has made the greatest impacted on my college career. I have the privilege of working with some of the most intelligent, hardworking, and hilarious people that I have ever met. Although some of the work we do can be very tiring and strenuous, the people that I work with make it all worth while.”

#tbt to the 90s! Here are some original greats from the 1994-1995 academic year, doing their #collegiateems thing!

But, living in the present, we are so excited to see everyone for Alumni Weekend this Saturday, October 7th! Open house is at 1700 on Saturday at NEW quarters (100 College Pl) and then we will head to Faegan’s at 1830, meeting in the back with current Admin, who will have on name tags. We are hosting a giveaway of SUA gear, so make sure you are here to win!

We look forward to looking over some recovered photos from the 70s-90s, having our new and current members meet the returning greats, and to have a great Homecoming.

In with the old AND in with the new!

With the debut of our new Administrative position, Alumni Relations, we will be recognizing a different SUA alumni each week. Our unit is embarking on its 44th year of service, and none of it could have been possible without the dedicated, compassionate, loyal, and Orange members before us.

Our first alumni is Peter Vasiliou, who attended SU from 1991-1995.
He is currently working as a Traffic Engineer at Jacobs Engineering Group in Boston.
Peter was an incredible help with the 20th Anniversary of SUA when he was a member.

Are you an SUA Alumn? Tell us what you’re up to! Email SUA Alumni Relations Admin, Emilia Navarrete:
